As you may have read in my last post, I travel a lot. Currently I am in South Africa. I just flew into Johannesburg from Cape Town. Here in J-Burg as the locals call it, there is a lot of activity as President Zuma is being inaugurated for the second time. On my way from the airport my car was over taken by several convoys of police and limos carrying some dignitary or other from the African Union. A few are at my hotel too.
Speaking to locals I find that Goodluck Jonathan, the president of Nigeria and president Mugabe of Zimbabwe are also here. Its such a shame though that the leaders of both countries seem to be so inept. Zimbabwe as gone down hill for thirty years so much that it has to import grain. And the Nigerian army is so woeful that the British, American and Israel Special Forces sent to help rescue those kidnapped girls have complained that the Nigerians are actually hindering the search effort.
I have to say though; Cape Town is a wonderful place, so you can see why people like Africa so much when it’s run properly. The colonists probably wrote back about how hard it was to live here so no one else would come and they could have it for themselves. Can’t say that I blame them
