A few weeks ago I mentioned the types of cars I have had over time. Which overall is way too many. I started in the US by sleeping in a Ford LTD Country Squire. It was cheap, and big. It has always amazed me how some people really are not into cars. I have a friend whose choice in cars is always a white Toyota. Sometimes an SUV. Sometimes a pickup or sedan. But always a white Toyota.
His view is simple. He buys them used and they don’t break. My view is they are like an appliance. A fridge or a washing machine. And about as sexy quite frankly.
My choice recently has included a Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Range Rover Supercharge and an Aston Martin Vantage. I should point out I don’t choose these cars for ego. For those that know, all these cars, even the SUV’s are the best at what they do. And are wonderful things to drive and look at. Well OK not the Cayenne. Its very ugly.
I have also owned BMW (broke down a lot), Mercedes (electronics are not their skill). and Lexus (a gussied up Toyota. But quite dull). I will say the Vantage is the one that gets my blood cooking though. It is very loud, totally impractical, and an absolute waste of money. But damn…its fun. Sometimes as Ferris Beuler said to his friend Cameron in the famous movie…”Sometimes you have to live a little”. Amen to that Ferris. Amen.
